Camp Commander, Brother Steve Pearce, opened the April meeting of the Richard Taylor Camp #53 SUVCW, at 7:00 pm, 28 April 2003.  Brother Geoffrey Hintz led the Camp in the Pledge to the American flag, Brother Brian Hogan let the Camp in the American Creed and Brother Gordon Cottrell  followed with prayer.

 

Old business: 

The Camp annual report reflects that 19 Brothers renewed their membership.

 

New Business

The May meeting will not be held but rather will be incorporated as part of the Memorial Day Ceremony.  The Memorial Day Ceremony will be held at the Glenwood Cemetery in Huntsville Alabama, on May 26, 2003, 11:00 A.M.  The draft agenda and directions are on the Camp webpage at http://pvtrichardtaylor.bizland.com/id11.html.  The plans are to honor the “Colored Soldiers” buried at Glenwood Cemetery in Huntsville Alabama. 

 

Brother Hogan to investigate the resting place of Col. Towns believed to be buried in Athens.

 

The DUVCW in Knoxville is willing to help in Civil War grave identification and registration.

 

Discussion was held on volunteers for the May 2003, Huntsville Alabama, Maple Hill Cemetery Stroll.  Members that participated were Brothers Hogan and Milam.

 

The meeting closed at 8:15pm with prayer by Brother Cottrell.
