The last full member meeting was held October 29, 2001. Camp Commander, Brother Edward Milam, opened the September meeting of the Richard Taylor Camp #53 SUVCW, at 7:00 pm. After opening with prayer, led by Brother Gordon Cottrell, Brother Steve Pearce led the Camp in the Pledge to the American flag and the American Creed.
Old business:
Minutes from the
previous meeting were approved. The
Treasurer presented the receipts and disbursements made since the beginning of
the calendar year. Secretary and
Treasurer reports due to the Department of Tennessee were approved. Seeing
no additional discussions at 8:20 p.m., the Camp Chaplin, Brother Gordon
Cottrell, closed the meeting with prayer.
Camp Events Since
November 2001:
On November 11, 2001, Private
Richard Taylor, Camp 53 held a luncheon and ceremony inducting the new officers
and initiating new members.
Brother Frank Harden, of
the Department of Tennessee, inducted the officers. The officers for the period November 2001 to November 2002 are:

The
afternoon of November 11, at 3pm, the Private Richard Taylor dedicated a restored headstone to Captain James H. Bone. The ceremony was held at the Maple Hill Cemetery
in Huntsville Alabama.
On November
12, 2001, the Camp participated in the Huntsville Veterans Day Parade. Brother Glenn Bracken reserved the Camp a
position in the parade. Brother Joe Johnson procured a vehicle to transport the Camp in
the parade held November 12.

New Brothers have joined the Camp. Brother Terence W. Foote joined October 29, 2001 and Brother Donald B. Davis
joined November 26, 2001.
On December 16, 2001, Brother Steve Pearce
represented the Camp at the Department of Tennessee Christmas dinner.
The Red Cross sent the Camp a nice thank you
note for the Camp’s donation to the September 11th relief fund.
The Camp ended 2001 with 24 total
members. At present 10 members have satisfied
their dues for 2002.

United Methodist Church.
