The Camp participated in the
Huntsville Veterans Day Parade on November 11.

On November 29, 2004, the Sons of
Union Veterans of the Civil War, Pvt. Richard Taylor, Camp 53, met at 7pm for
regular business. Brother Brian Hogan
led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance and Brother Gordon Cottrell opened
the meeting with prayer.
Brother Hogan has obtained the headstone for Lt Colonel Robert
Ross Townes, who is buried in the Athens City Cemetery, beside his wife. The date is January 29, 10:30am, at the
Athens Cemetery. Take HY-72 west to
Athens. After crossing I-65 travel
about 1.7 miles, passing Walmart on your right, to Clinton Street and turn
right. Travel 4 traffic lights to Hobbs
and turn right. Travel just past Athens
College and the Athens City Cemetery parking lot will be on your right. We will gather at 10am for the 10:30
ceremony. Wear your uniforms if you

Also on January 29, 2005, in Madison Al., there will be a marker
dedication at the downtown train station rotunda, beginning at 2pm. For those participating we will start
forming up at 1:30pm. Take I-565 to
exit 8 (Madison). Take Sullivan
Street/Wall Triana north about 2 miles until you cross the railroad
tracks. The ceremony will be at the
rotunda by the railroad tracks.
At he 10th Annual Department of Tennessee SUVCW
Encampment held, January 22, 2005, Brother Geoffrey Hintze was elected
Department Sr. Vice Commander, and Brother Talbot Hackett was elected Jr. Vice
Commander. Brother Steve Pearce was
appointed Department Graves Registration Chairman. Congratulations to all.
Next Encampment will be hosted by the Taylor Camp at a place and date to
be determined by the Camp.
Dues
($25) for the 2005 calendar year are due. Please make dues to “SUVCW Camp
Richard Taylor” and send them to the Camp Treasurer
